Now, before I jump into this week’s episode, what did you think about episode 83 with Kristen Anderson discussing influencer marketing? I shared my takeaways following the interview, and Kristen definitely shared some excellent insights, especially if you are someone interested in working with influencers in 2019.
This is a growing market and it could very well be a better approach versus spending the majority of your financial resources on ads. As you know, people like to buy from people they know, like and trust, and trying to establish that credibility and trust with a cold audience online can be tough. Influencer marketing, however, can make this easier, but of course, there are a lot of ins and outs that go into an effective campaign, which Kristen talked about.
So I guess my question to you is, are you currently leveraging influencer marketing, or are you planning on tapping into influencer marketing in 2019? Connect with me on Instagram @TheCreativeMarketingZone and share your story with me on Insta Stories. You can also email me at Eric@thecreativemarketingzone.com. And be sure to connect with Kristen from the previous episode on Instagram as well.
Alright guys, so let’s dive into a couple of awesome LinkedIn ninja hacks this week. Now I learned these two hacks at the recent DC Podfest event I attended this past weekend and I was mind blown.
In fact, to be specific, these two tips came courtesy from Karen Yankovich who spoke on LinkedIn for Podcasters. Karen was awesome and you should totally connect with her by clicking on her profile image below:
So what are the tips?
Ninja tip #1 is that LinkedIn has a feature on their mobile app that allows you to scan a room and start connecting with folks. This feature is called, Find Nearby, which on my app is found at the bottom when I select the image of the two heads, or the connections button is what this stands for. Then at the top of this screen, there is a button that says, Find Nearby. This is set to off, but if you select this button to turn on, the app will scan the room you are in and instantly find folks on LinkedIn, and from here you can instantly send invites to connect with them.
Now you do need to have your Bluetooth turned on to have this work, but man, this is super powerful on so many levels.
First, you get to connect with people you may have missed at an event. And second, it saves time trying to connect with people you want to connect with following an event, which many of us do, but sometimes forget to get around doing so.
Pretty cool, right?
Now the second ninja hack is awesome as well! You may or may not be aware, but LinkedIn does allow you to export your contacts into a CSV file, which will include each contact’s email address.
Now, you shouldn’t upload this list into your email marketing CRM since you do not have permission to start emailing these folks.
But what you can do is upload this list into, let’s say Facebook as a custom lookalike audience and run ads to this warmer audience.
This tip is perfect if you don’t have an email list already, or if you are looking to expand your email list even further. They don’t know you’ve exported and imported into Facebook so you can run lead magnet campaigns more effectively. You can spend a lot less than you would spend on a cold top of the funnel audience on Facebook using this approach.
When I heard that list tip I was like, “whoa!!” I do like to run ads for clients on Facebook, and one of the questions I always ask up front is if they already have an email list in place. If they don’t then this could be a backup question to ask or a secondary question to ask to run two different ad sets to the different audiences.
Now, one thing Karen did mention is that this only works if you have a good LinkedIn network. Meaning, if you have good quality connections, not just random connections.
Unfortunately, at the moment I am working on cleaning up my account to get rid of the folks who are not my target audience like the plumbers, electricians, accountants, lawyers, etc.
Over the years I made the mistake of just randomly accepting invites, which is not good as you will find out on in Tuesday’s interview with Joey Gilkey, founder of Tribe Prospecting who will be sharing his LinkedIn ninja hacks that helped him grow a multi-million dollar agency. Stay tuned for that episode on Tuesday – episode 85.
Once I have better quality connections on LinkedIn and start sharing better content on the platform then I can begin to better nurture these relationships and would feel totally comfortable exporting and importing into Facebook for some campaigns.
So there you have it guys, 2 LinkedIn Ninja hacks for you. What do you think?
As you may have heard me talk about on previous episodes, LinkedIn is going to be a big push for me in 2019. I spent a ton of time the past few years on Instagram, and some time with Facebook ads. Instagram is fun, but as a digital marketing consultant, I feel like I will be getting a better ROE or ROI back into my business using LinkedIn right. And this includes sharing more videos recapping podcast episodes like what Karen does.
Instagram I feel is great for personal brands, but not necessarily for drumming up business without running ads.
So I am excited to bring on some LinkedIn ninja gurus these next several weeks to share awesome content here on The Creative Marketing Zone Podcast. Perhaps you may decide to join me on this LinkedIn journey in 2019 and we can hold each other accountable. If so, let me know if you are down.
Alright, guys, that’s it for today, short and sweet. Thanks as always for tuning in, and don’t forget Tuesday will be the next interview with Joey Gilkey as I mentioned earlier who walks us through step-by-step, how to optimize your LinkedIn profile and prospect effectively to generate massive results. And these are proven results he now teaches students.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend, and you know what time it is, time to go out and practice our ABC’s to marketing success – Always Be Creative! Talk to you on Tuesday!
