Welcome to another exciting episode of The Creative Marketing Zone Podcast! I am your host and chief creative officer, Eric, and this is the weekly podcast for all things creative to help you build and grow professionally and personally!
Now, guys, I am super stoked to bring on today’s featured guest, Blake Schofield, CEO of Connections Illuminated. Blake is going to share some ninja tips on how we can build a business around the life we want to lead versus having that corporate job mindset.
This is a topic of interest for me and I know for many of our listening friends. As many of you know, I spent years in the trenches in corporate America working jobs I knew were a means to an end, but needed at the time to support my family.
I knew eventually I would be doing my own thing, but it was a process for me to get here. Years of blood, sweat, and tears went into this, and many sleepless nights along the way while trying to raise a family.
When I finally decided to take the leap and go off on my own full-time I was on, how should I say, cloud 9! It was like that feeling after graduating from high school or college and immediately thinking I had all the time in the world, but I soon found out this wasn’t the case.
Earlier this year I experienced major burnout following the social media for beginners online course I ran, which produced good results.
But the course, while managing client accounts, and trying to raise a family just wasn’t jiving. And my health also took a toll as I was stressed and put on a bunch of weight.
I was working around the clock, and things just weren’t going the way I expected. Thankfully, I am in a much better spot now, and the weight has come off, but this was a difficult process to go through.
Blake in a few moments will share with us more about her personal story and journey to get to where she is today. But just to give you a sneak peak, Blake is a mom of three kids who spent 18 years in Corporate America building, growing, and turning around 8 or 9 figure businesses, including a $600 million dollar business at Target Corporation & building a business from scratch at Stitch Fix that launched with over 75,000 women on a waitlist! How cool is that?
After spending many years frustrated at the lack of control she had over her life, capped a the impact she could make & having a deep desire to do more meaningful work, she decided to take the ultimate leap by leaving corporate behind and make her biggest impact yet.
Today, she helps women get clarity on how they can use their talents and passions to leave unfulfilling careers and get the freedom to make bigger impacts in the world and at home, on their terms.
It is her mission to change the perspective about what women can accomplish in this world.
We will talk about what Blake had to go through to get to where she is today, some of the mindset shifts involved, some of the examples of women she has worked with and their transformational results, and so much more.
Blake will also go over systems and processes to have in place when running your business to avoid burnout as I experienced.
