Alright everyone, welcome to another exciting episode of The Creative Marketing Zone Podcast! I am your host and chief creative officer of The Creative Marketing Zone, Eric Koch (rhymes with watch) and this is the show for all things creative to help build and grow your business.

Okay guys, we are in for a special treat today with today’s guest. I had the awesome privilege of interviewing, Bill Bice, CEO of boomtime, a company that specializes in marketing as a technology problem and has recruited a team of world class word-of-mouth experts. 

Now Bill has quite the story which you will get to hear more about shortly. As a quick primer, however, Bill has always been an entrepreneur. He started his first company at age 14 putting on road races with corporate sponsors. At the age of 18, he started ProLaw Software, the first integrated ERP system for law firms. After selling the company to Thomson Reuters, Bill became a VC as a founding partner in the Verge Fund, investing in high tech, high growth companies in the Southwest. 

One of the core things that Bill has learned in building and investing in companies is that the go-to-market is always the hardest part of growing a business. He got so frustrated in trying to get great marketing for his companies that he decided to tackle the problem head-on. A programmer at heart, Bill founded boomtime, tackling marketing as a technology problem. As it turns out when you follow the data, really good things happen and this is why boomtime built the world’s first marketing-as-a-service platform: fuse. 

Now I always have the privilege of hearing these interviews before they go live when my editor sends me the file before recording the intros and outros, and this interview is a really good one. Be sure to take notes and of course take action. Here were some of my takeaways from the episode:

  • Why it pays to use LinkedIn and Sales Navigator to follow the data and to see what is happening. A lot of good information shared here, especially when discussing about making connections.

  • Specific LinkedIn profile optimization tactics – picture, name, and headline – talk about what you are great at. Now on your profile you want to write a good summary – not something dry and boring. Lastly, you want to recast your prior experience to focus more on what you are doing today.

  • How Bill bootstrapped to an eight figure company.

  • Interesting story on how Bill is just like Bill Gates.

Alright guys before we jump into the awesomeness of today’s show I want to start doing something a little different each week and share a cool new tool I have discovered that can help you in your marketing journey. This week’s tool is called Snovio, which can be found at www.snov.io

This cool tool will blow your mind, and it actually serves well for today’s episode being that Bill talks quite a bit about LinkedIn. With this tool you can do a LinkedIn search and using the Snovio Google Chrome extension Snovio can find the email addresses associated with those records. From here you can use Snovio’s email verification tool to check for bad email addresses then export these emails into a CSV doc to run cold email campaigns and maybe even upload to Facebook or LinkedIn to run ads towards this audience - or a lookalike audience. 

You can also use this tool to find email addresses for domain searches. For instance, you can go to Google and type in let’s say SaaS companies, open up tabs for each result you select and use the Chrome extension tool to locate email addresses associated with that domain. They also have this tool, domain name search built into their platform. 

For Linkedin using this tool, I recommend using LinkedIn Sales Navigator as Bill will talk more about in this episode and signing up for this tool. They have monthly packages which are very reasonable, and another cool part is that they have a built in email drip dashboard for you to run your cold email campaigns from using simple drag and drop tools to build out your flow. I am starting to use this tool for the company I work at, RoboMQ, and it is a game changer so far. So be sure to check them out at www.snov.io today.
